We are a private rehabilitation counseling firm specializing in worker compensation cases in Central and Eastern Washington State over the last ten years. We have a staff of six, full-time Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors. We provide a full range of services to injured workers, employers, claim managers and attorneys for both state fund and self-insured cases.
In addition to handling thousands of cases referred through the Department of Labor and Industries, we work with numerous self-insured employers in addressing return to work issues and employability.

Nicole Hernandez | MSW, ABVE/D, CDMS
Ms. Hernandez has been in practice as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor since 2007 and is the principle owner of Advanced Vocational Solutions, Inc. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is a Certified Disability Management Specialist. Ms. Hernandez works collaboratively with injured workers, employers, claim managers and members of the medical and legal communities to provide all phases of vocational services. She is trained in forensic evaluation and provides expert testimony.
Ms. Hernandez has had the privilege of presenting on the topics of professional ethics, ethical dilemmas, and cultural diversity in counseling at professional conferences for the Department of Labor and Industries (2014&2015), the WA Self-Insured Association (2017), and the Oregon Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (2017).
Ms. Hernandez is a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP), and served on the Washington IARP Board of Directors (2015-2017). She is also a member of the Vocational Technical Stakeholder Group (VTSG) collaborating with Labor and Industries on practice and policy issues affecting Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Ms. Hernandez is proud to represent the interests and values of Eastern Washington with respect to the emerging vocational issues of the day.
Alexandra Carrasco | B.A., CDMS
Mrs. Carrasco is a bilingual Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and has been in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation since 2014. Mrs. Carrasco holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Washington.
Annabel Cobane | B.A., CDMS
Mrs. Cobane has been working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor since 2014 and is a Certified Disability Management Specialist. She is bilingual and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Society, Ethics & Human Behavior with a minor in Human Rights from the University of Washington.
Edith Diaz | B.A.,CDMS
Mrs. Diaz has been a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor since 2016. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Heritage University. Mrs. Diaz is a certified disability management specialist (CDMS), is CASAS certified and bilingual in Spanish and English.
Eloisa Flores | B.S., CDMS
Ms. Flores is a bilingual Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor who joined the field of Vocational Rehabilitation in 2017. Ms. Flores is a certified Disability Management Specialist, is CASAS certified, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration specializing in Human Resource Management with a minor in Psychology from Central Washington University.
Amy Peterson | B.A.
Ms. Peterson entered the field of Vocational Rehabilitation in 2018. She attended Columbia College where she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Samantha Chandler | B.S.
Ms. Chandler entered the field of Vocational Rehabilitation in 2019. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Brigham Young University.
Kaela Zion | M.E.d., CRC
Ms. Zion recently obtained her Masters of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling and Human Services in May of 2018 and is credentialed by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. Ms. Zion is new to the field of private sector Vocational Rehabilitation, but has served injured workers and people with disabilities through past work at SL Start and the WA Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Ms. Zion is committed to helping clients overcome physical and/or emotional barriers to live independent, active and fulfilling lives.
Yuri Cortez| B.A.
Ms. Cortez entered the field of Vocational Rehabilitation in 2019. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Comparative History of Ideas and Diversity from the University of Washington. Ms. Cortez is biliterate in both English and Spanish and fluent in Portuguese, she also understands and communicates in American Sign Language.

Our home office is located in Yakima and we have offices in Kennewick and Spokane. Our service area ranges from Goldendale to Walla Walla, Clarkston, and Moses Lake to the Ellensburg and Cle Elum areas. We are also available for special assignments outside those areas.
